GEOTHERMAL GROUND SOURCE HVAC SYSTEMS
The first building we designed with a Geothermal Ground Source HVAC system was the Local 46 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Building at 936 Warden Avenue in Scarborough, Ontario.
This system has now been in operation since 2005.
A more recent project is a 16 storey Seniors Building in Oshawa with 168 suites, amenity area and indoor swimming pool.
With energy prices ever escalating and the prices for the underground well drilling coming down recently, the payback for the additional capital cost, depending on the type of building, may be as low as three years.
We estimate that within five to ten years 50% of building HVAC systems will be operated with geothermal energy.
Currently, we have two projects in design stage in the City of Toronto - one being a 170 suite apartment building plus one of the largest residential projects of 1000 suites of rental apartments.
